minecraft volume alpha deserves more credit for putting an entire generation on to ambient music

@eden7143

Your review of the Halsey album was either poorly worded or full of misinterpretations. Having cancer doesn’t equate to “main character syndrome,” and while you don’t have to enjoy the sound of the music, you should’ve at least been more respectful to content of the album. Side Note: Citing Avril Lavigne and a young Taylor Swift as influences also feels disingenuous when you put forward Fearless despite there being no pop country elements on the record, and Let Go, despite the songwriting and instrumentals swaying way toward modern rock than Avril’s early style of 2000s pop punk. Plus, both were kids 😭

Politics in music is good. Not all music needs to be “political” but discussing what is happening in the real world is completely natural. Wanting a world without “political” music is political in of itself (and also a cowardly desire to retreat into mindless consumerist escapism)

It's usually just hot takes and unpopular opinions so here's a tough question: Which is worse, hearing someone rhyme a word with itself, or being able to predict a rhyme before it happens?

Spencer. is the most underrated artist of the 2010/2020s. Not many songs but needs to be more appreciated

When an artist experiences personal hardship that directly influences their art, it’s necessary to consider these circumstances or else you’re missing a significant portion of the art.

Anthony should do a review where he smokes an entire blunt and that’s it. The review could be for any album.

I feel like we are seriously lacking in good protest music this generation. Higher profile musicians were making excellent protest music from 70's through the 2000s (Bob Dylan, The Cranberries, RAtM, early Green Day, etc) but I haven't seen as much of a through line for this kind of music in recent years outside of one offs like YG's FDT

Music made for “passive” listening isn’t inherently worse than music made for “active” listening.

Taylor Swift shouldn't be anywhere near the Grammy conversation. The Tortured Poet's Department was a forgettably average album filled with mid tracks back to back. There is no way you can even compare it to releases like Brat or Billie's new album.

honestly, if the people voted for the grammy nominations instead of the grammys themselves, people would be even angrier than what the actual nominations were.
