Alyssa in Wonderland

Yesterday I attended the 2nd networking event of K-Campus (@kcampus.official) and had a blast. K-Campus is a website / portal for international students in Korea providing information on universities, classes, news and events. The team of K-Campus is always working hard to connect students with opportunities and listen to their needs. It is organized by the newspaper Korea JoongAng Daily (@koreajoongangdaily_official) that provides news in Korean and English respectively.

When arriving at the event you were greeted by their welcoming team and their mascot Jandi. after the welcoming speech by the head of K-Campus there were two speeches following. The first speech was by Kim Hyeon-seok, the HR team leader of YG Entertainment (@yg_ent_official) who gave us a quick overview of the company’s history and all the opportunities to work for them. He also gave us tips how you can win them over during the interview:

Know Korean! Having Korean skills is a must when you want to work in the Korean entertainment industry. If you’re working in a global project team (for example in the world tour team) you need to have good English skills as well.
Know Yourself. Knowing yourself, your strength and your weaknesses and how you handle them was a topic that was mentioned several times. How does feedback affect you? Be honest.
Be creative. Show them your visions for the future. Make concepts for their artists‘ next albums. Show them how creative you are and what fresh, new thoughts you are bringing into the company.
Be passionate. Even if you have no experience in the field yet show them how passionate you are. Because this is one of the things that matter most to them.

The second speech was by tv personality and entrepreneur Nidhi Agrawal (@nidhisdiaryyy) from
Wave Entertainment (@waveenter). She held an inspirational speech about how she went from an unhappy life in India almost 10 years ago to reinventing and challenging herself again and again. She said that now she is at a point in her life where she is the happiest she has ever been.
She told us to live our lives for ourselves and find what makes us happy. What do you want to live for? What is your passion that sparks joy inside you?

Lastly, she gave us the saying 절절포 on our way.
절대 절대 포기하지 말자!
No matter what comes, never never give up.

Thank you for the opportunity K-Campus. I’d love to come again next time, too~
