Fruit in people with blood sugar issues does seem like it can make their blood sugar worse whether blended or whole. But it doesn't cause those blood sugar issues or diabetes in the first place. For everyone else no issue. And I'd suggest that even for people with blood sugar issues eating fruit either on its own or blended, but away from other food will be ok. And people with diabetes going on a fruit (and salad) only juice and/or smoothie fast will experience their blood sugar return to normal (source for this last claim? The many or various juice retreats that are out there)

Humans are a frugivorous creature so .... We are designed for fruit more than any other food and it is the most beneficial for us. As for blending, it isn't ideal to process foods too much, but if you consume it quickly after blending you'll be fine. Fruit prefers to be eaten alone on its own.. but not all fruit fest along in the stomach. Look into food/fruit combining and avoid adding bananas or a bunch of non-fruit crap to your smoothies
