George Collier

So, my channel got removed from the YouTube Partner Program yesterday. That means that videos I post here cannot earn any money. I work with freelancers to produce the videos, so monetisation is really essential to be able to break even on the channel. I appealed, which was denied, so I'm now trying to sort it out with my channel rep.

I don't want to be another channel that falls victim to the 'I'm quitting Youtube' tsunami that's happening right now. Rest assured, I'm not going to give up just yet, but if I can't sort it out there will only be a few videos left.

The YouTube review team just doesn't appear to understand the complexity and value of music transcription. I'm making you all aware of this as if the appeal doesn't get overturned, I'm just not going to have a choice other than to stop posting videos. I'm a full-time university student so don't have the time to dedicate hours upon hours to each video (transcribing takes a while!).

Remember, everything ever published here is available for free (unless the artist didn't want that) on my site (georgecolliermusic.com/), so I hope you all still find the transcriptions useful for your musical journeys! I know many of you watch them in band, I know music teachers show them in classes for their students, I know people play them so they can play solos themselves. That's only possible because of the support of all of you guys and I'm so grateful for that! We're making such a positive impact on music education and I really hope that can continue.

Is there anything you can do? Unfortunately, not that much. You support the channel already with your subscriptions and comments, but perhaps it'd be nice to have some comments here that highlight the value of transcriptions and how they've helped you through music. I really appreciate you all!
