BreakThrough News

Israel’s war is not restricted to the Gaza Strip—it’s on all of Palestine. More Palestinians have been slain in the West Bank since October 7 than at any other point in the last 15 years.

Over two-thirds of the 1,900 Palestinians injured were brutally attacked by Israeli forces while demonstrating in solidarity with Gaza.

Meanwhile armed settlers have ramped up attacks on Palestinian communities, many times entering protected by Israeli forces, leading to hundreds of Palestinian families fleeing their homes in fear for their lives.

This dangerous situation is made worse by the alarming uptick in violence against health care workers, who have faced physical assaults and obstruction of movement due to Israel’s strict lockdown while responding to emergency calls for care.

Prompt: Why is ethnic cleansing hard to stop? Response: Ethnic cleansing is the systematic removal of one ethnic group from an area, often through violence and intimidation (I.e terror). It is a horrific crime that has been committed throughout history, and it is unfortunately very difficult to stop. There are a number of reasons why ethnic cleansing is so hard to stop. First, it is often carried out by governments or other powerful groups. This means that the perpetrators have access to resources such as weapons, money, and media control. They can also use their power to silence dissent and intimidate the victims. Second, ethnic cleansing is often carried out in secret or in areas that are difficult to access. This makes it difficult for outsiders to know what is truly happening and to intervene. Third, ethnic cleansing is often accompanied by other forms of violence and human rights abuses, such as genocide, torture, and rape. This can create an atmosphere of fear and terror, making it difficult for people to resist or escape. Fourth, the international community is often slow to respond to ethnic cleansing. This is because there is no clear consensus on how to intervene in such situations. There is also a fear that intervening could escalate the conflict or make it more difficult to resolve.
