The real competition for them is from youtube and tiktok. If old media weren't losing so much market share, using AI to write scripts wouldn't be a question. Nobody is abandoning scripted shows to watch ai shows. They're abandoning tv to watch YouTube. Kneecapping Hollywood employers by imposing union-agreed ai limits on them will ultimately make the industry less competitive against the real competitive threats. If AI content is ever perfected, old Hollywood studios will be eaten alive by independent creators not subject to stringent ai restrictions. I am an ai executive, though, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
