I have made a few posts about Young Earth Creationism(YEC) but why?
The first reason is that I was challenged to debate the topic. I was not planning on talking about YEC. I wanted to talk about other topics. Second, I'm passionate about the subject because I grew up believing in all of the teachings from that camp. I have come to learn that much of what was said supporting those views was not true. It was misleading at best and dishonest at worst. My concern is for the homeschool mom and the conservative family that only wants to protect their children. They believe that they are doing the right thing. The rhetoric is very strong from the YEC groups but it is not accurate. My heart is for the truth. The truth is that the Bible does not teach that the Earth is undeniably young. The truth is these groups do not have scientific evidence that the Earth is young. If you want to be a Young Earth Creationist that is fine but know that there is no science to back it.
