Xyla Foxlin

PLEASE DON'T GET SCAMMED!
I've been seeing an influx of spam and phishing comments targeting commenters on my channel, and am doing my best to block them as they arise but it's a bit like Google whack-a-mole :(
If you receive any comments or contact that is NOT from any of my official accounts (@xylafoxlin on instagram, twitter, and tiktok) or THIS channel (check for the verified check!) it is NOT ME. I do not have Telegram, and am doing my best to block all these accounts as they spring up.

@hamstereyes

It's a sign your channel is getting big! :)

@HiddenWindshield

That's how you know you've made it on the platform, when the bots have noticed you.

@rusaccord

Thank you for doing your best to whackamole the bots and take care of your community. Silver lining in a mushroom cloud: it's got to be a good sign of your channel's popularity and growth.

It's happening a lot lately to any YouTube accounts with a significant following. Honestly anyone who uses YouTube regularly should know by now how these scams work. Still, it's something to be proud of, in a weird way, that you get enough engagement to be considered a valuable target for this.

ThioJoe has recently developed and released a script for tackling spam in YouTube comments. Linus tech tips did a video discussing it. From what Linus said, it sounds like exactly what you need Edit2Add I see that I'm not the first to recommend the script

@noviceartisan

funny thing is google can auto perma ban accounts for using an array of offensive words and phrases... but chooses not to use the same system to combat scammers, for 20+ years.... almost like they want them.....

@RNMSC

Thank you. Watch out as well yourself. I know of a number of folk who've (at least temporarily( lost their channelthrough pirates sending .scr files as part of an attachment that dumps their session data to the attacker's systems. Recommend opening any attachments through something like a stand alone raspberry pi 3 w/o any web sessions open on it before opening it in your main computer. The Cana kit for that, and a keyboard an d mouse (or a pi400 if someone has one available) can give you a basic system for handling that. Most of all, don't accept any attachment that is a password encrypted RAR file. A password encrypted Zip files will expose the list of files within the archive, but a password encrypted RAR file will not. So they get past more mail filters that your e-mail provider may be running for you.

Check “scammers payback” to see what happens after you click the link or call them…. Just report each one for harassment of you of someone else it will supposedly get taken down (they didn’t have a bot field last time I had to deal with this shit)..

@robmcdonald8730

Thank you for addressing this for the sake of your fans. This is a real issue as you are the third creator that I follow in about a month to have been harassed by these asses. I followed one until they asked for money... then I sent everything I had on them to the police and told them so 🤣. Would have loved to see what happened next

You know you've made it when scammers try to impersonate you for your followers...

@MrTurbo_

There used to be this tool from ThioJoe, spammer purge or something, I don't know if it is still good, but it used to be able to get rid of bots quite quickly

@alexgray6082

Sorry they have started to infiltrate your channel. This has been a major problem for many creators in the past few years but the content hosts do not seem to be able to do anything about it.

So you mean that message wasn't from you? If that's the case, who did I just ship a pallet of marmite to?! I mean "100% organic wood stain sourced from natural yeast", not marmite... Honest...

This feels like a trick. Your telegram profile said you’d say something like this on your YouTube channel. 🤔
