Which Nintendo console is the most iconic?

@DragonbornTorterra

Wii had the biggest impact as a whole I think, mainly because people who never played video games had a wii and at least a couple favorite games. Their other consoles may have a bigger cultural and historical impact, but the Wii is still such an iconic console

@DefinitelyNotJay

Even though they're both before my time, Gameboy and NES were "the Nintendo" when I was a child

It depends on what you think iconic means. I chose DS because it was the first handheld game with anything close to good graphics. Not to mention most of the older games worked with it. ( I miss when game companies used to do this.) It had most of the iconic games on it.

I would have picked GameCube if it were an option since it was a Christmas gift and it had so many games that were amazing.

Still have my gray brick Gameboy. Thanks to my mom for holding onto stuff like that to give me as an adult. Still works well too! :)

How do you compete with the Gameboy the original came out in 1989, and the although there were alot of revisions, there wasn't a handheld to replace it until 2001. And how do argue with the system that gave us Pokémon and Tetris?

Original NES or Super NES. Nothing is more iconic than blowing on a cartridge.

Without the Gameboy, nintendo handhelds wouldn't be what they are today.

Ok but hear me out here, the gameboy I think was the most well LIKED Nintendo console. But I honestly think the Wii truly was the most iconic in the sense that almost everyone who you ask from ages 85-12 would recognize the name of the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo truly killed it with the marketing of the Wii as a family entertainment system rather than just a “game console.”

The Gameboy is pretty undisputed. Never had one, but the thing is featured in so many movies, shows, books and comics that it's just part of the zeitgeist now.

Specifically iconic has GOTTA be the gameboy, it’s synonymous with Nintendo 🙏

DS + 3DS combined reign supreme as the most sold console of all time. Ask this question again in 10-20 years and the poll will go completely different.

To clarify, ICONIC is not the same as the best lol. The Switch is good, but the Gameboy is a touchstone in gaming history.

The Gameboy walked so the switch and steam deck could run

everyone had a wii and you could convince your parents it was exercise and get extra game time

Grandparents to this day are asking if their grandkids are playing their Gameboy. The only word more common than Gameboy in that sentence is Nintendo. Nothing else in gaming has anything even remotely close to that kind of brand awareness
