Is there a precedent of a bunch of cats looking like a big monster in Japanese art? Something similar to this piece happens in Muramasa: The Demon Blade, a game that is full of references to Japanese art and folklore. Miike, a cat that becomes a Nekomata is able to summon a bunch of cats to all come together to look like a massive head of a cat spewing balls of fire from its "mouth"

Things are not quite as they seem in this mysterious piece of Japanese artwork, drawn on a fan. What do the 3 shadows look like to you?
Upon first glance, the one on the right looks like a lion, the middle a horned owl, and the third a hannya mask (demon mask).
But if you flip over the fan (second picture), you see that they’re actually cats! How dumb do you feel right now?
