Did you know we have several dedicated railway magazines in Australia? Newsrail is our specialist magazine for railway and tramway news & history in Victoria, and they've just hit a massive milestone: their 800th issue!
Some of you may recall that back before I started making high-effort youtube videos, I used to contribute a lot of photos (and occasional writing) to various magazines, and my pictures adorned quite a few Newsrail covers in the mid 2010s. It's been a while, but issue 800 (Jan 2025) contains a short interview with me about my trip through the Metro Tunnel, and features one of my shots from Parkville on the front cover.
If you want to keep track of what's going on in Victoria's railways as well as read a lot of interesting historical content, I highly recommend this magazine: You can subscribe online at their website: vicrailpublishing.com.au/ If you just want a single copy, it's also stocked at many newsagents, and the Newport Railway Museum - full list of stockists here: vicrailpublishing.com.au/stockists/ (Individual copies are sold online, but the current issue isn't listed for individual sale yet from what I can see)
One really cool thing about subscribing (and honestly it's worth it just for this) is you get access to digital back issues on their website - all of them - going right back to the first issue in 1957.
