The Beast Cookies feel like an afterthought The St. Pastry Order is criminally underutilized

@ElysianArchives

I've had WAAAAAAY too many problems with Cookie Run's style of narrative for as long as I had remembered to the point where I had to resort to the made-up version in my head, but MY GOD, did the Beast Yeast arc only add mountains more to the already raging scrapheap. Why I'd say this with such utter confidence? Let me explain... To sum it into one condensed sentence, CRK's BY chapters, or what we have of them so far, may as well be the epitome of wasted potential. Back when it was announced at the start of the year, I saw a lot of promise in it and expected the premise to raise the stakes where we would see our heroes faced with. And on one hand, I was right... at first. Me, being the peanut brain I am, loved the kinds of conflict introduced against the Ancients. Mystic Flour's shenanigans raised the bar for the lengths the game would go to portray the lesser aspects of the Cookie world. But on the other hand... I was starting to see a pattern in the plot the more it was unveiled. Don't get me wrong--I LOVED Golden Cheese's episode; her transformation was badass and I was NOT expecting Burning Spice to end off the first half of the update with... you know. But at the same time, I didn't like that this will potentially be the formula the devs are going to stick with: (1) Ancient experiences problem in kingdom and gets called to some region in Beast-Yeast (2) Beast emerges and torments Ancient in the most vitriolic way possible (3) Ancient undergoes an arduous trial as a result, and ultimately regains the power to transform into a super totally-not-P2W form and bring glory to everyone else unscathed. On one side, it's pretty cool to see these guys prove themselves worthy yet again especially after everything they went through, not to mention some tidbits about the Beast cookies' origin stories and all, but the more you begin to think about it, the more you realize: is this really all the story has to offer? What's the point of being surprised at seeing another one of the old geezers being relentlessly put through suffering when they would ultimately end in the same, predictable way? Sure, I'm personally hyped for what Shadow Milk will have in store for Pure Vanilla, but not in the same way as I did in Silver Kingdom where I'm on the edge of my seat over how they'll handle such a major point in the story that has been teased for quite a while. Rather, all I can ever think of is how much clownery Vanilla will endure, and his super awakened form which I know will blow me away... design-wise, mostly. Sure, sure, the blue jester does have a lot of potential as a character, and maybe then we'll get more interactions between Vanilla and Lily (totally not lying to myself hahahahahah) but I fear they may end up with the same, awakened-type formula, and I'm here slumping around having just watched another monster-of-the-week episode. And that's where my worries lie in this new direction: this arc might as well fall into a samey kind of story structure, offering little to no sense of thrill at all. I know some of you would argue that the whole thing with the laboratory may raise my interest, but then again, even if DE's cameo may throw the plot into a downward spiral, it wouldn't help that it MIGHT make most of the other episodes feel like a slog to go through. It just feels like bare-minimum fanservice for fans of each of the ancients and... I don't like that I'm no better than babies mesmerized by jingling keys. (Oh, and as a side note: I am STILL salty about the way they handled White Lily's character in the earlier chapters. I don't want to write another wall of text explaining why but... uuuuugh it infuriates me real bad!!)

@Thendless_Void

The process to write the story is just putting stuff on a dart board, pick 20 or so random employees and blindfolding them, whatever plot point the darts hit goes into the story Also, i would have rathered if white lily and dark enchentress were one entity (physically) but seperate (soul/magic) so white lily would "exist" while dark enchentress is off reaking havoc and when we get into beast yeast they swap, so white lily gets her body back and dark is reduced to a voice or can only appear and interact while trapped in reflective surfaces

@Moonfirecookies

Hot takes: 1. They should have given more hints that Burning Spice didn’t just corrupt because he was bored. It’s like Golden Cheese’s thing about being greedy, except not expanded upon. He definitely is more than just bored, and isn’t just some destructive brute, but the way he wrote him makes you think that until you start to think on it more. 2. Dark Choco should have been more involved in episodes 3 and 4 instead of showing up twice This is not really a lore hot take but wanted to add this idea anyway: only reason the other dragons aren’t released yet are probably because Longan Dragon might be the new main villain after Dark Enchantress, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to fight with other cookies due to, you know, ovenbreak lore The beasts are side villains, that’s just an extension of that, because once Dark Enchantress is gone, we might not see them again if their back in the tree by the end

I don't see a lot of people mentioning this, and this is more of me asking questions than stating facts/theories- But what on earth are the Cream Critters?? I swear I feel like they just dropped that out of nowhere with Cream Ferret Cookie's update and left, and I really hope we get more info in the future because I'm so curious to know all about these creatures- Speaking of Cream Ferret, I find it insane that during the scene they had with Tea Knight, they talked about the possibility of reincarnation being a thing, and basically says that life powder from a cookie who has passed can be used to bake a brand new Cookie, which.. Makes me question Cream Ferret in general even more about HOW they know all of this lmao??😭

Personal hot take is that Beast Yeast ep 5-6 didn’t make me consider Burning Spice barely as threatening as Mystic Flour Cookie. Mystic Flour set the bar high by being the first playable Beast and the final confrontation with DC at the end of ep 4 was very well done but Burning Spice’s update in confront didn’t feel as good in my opinion, plus the confrontation with GC was just them fighting each other, which yeah it’s all Burning Spice does, fighting an destroying, but Mystic Flour Cookie didn’t even need to fight DC to get her soul jam back because she literally traumatized him. (Plus DC’s awakening sequence in the story felt way cooler and well done than GC’s)

@cajapeydoesthings

I have multiple hot takes, but I got to get ready for my classes, so I'll edit or reply to my comment later, when I can. So... Hot take. 1.) The lore is affected by power creep. And by non-commitment, as to not alienate potential new players. The kind who only want to see the cookie that made them interested in the game. 2.) This is the same reason they don't include Cookie Run Ovenbreak lore/characters. Will post more hot take later.

Please Devisis make more variety in Kingdom decor. Not just P2W, just in a sense like with more recent decor, I highly suggest them to bring back interactive decor that will bring so much life in a kingdom’s design! The ones we have now is mostly paid and the Cookie doesn’t even have a special animation to go with it. Like I’m kinda salty that there are not a lot dream express decor for the city of wizards set, peach blossoms and Kulfi decor in the beast sets that also for some reason lack interactive decor. No signature sets for the new legendaries. And plus no autumn squirrel shop because I would like more seasonal decor (duh). This is a big request I would like take for especially newer CRK players who want to have more variety in fun in their kingdom design! And we need landmarks back that will boost decor points and style to any kingdom!

@TurbopapumainByron

The St. Pastry Order was the most wasted potential we have seen, after years that we saw the ending trough the Tower Of Chaos cutscenes and I still feel like they could have done so much more. Ask Devsisters: Who is Pastry Cookie? And they'll say: A background NPC, right?

@ColdJamiy

just the thought of burning spice getting corrupted out of pure boredom. that in a way is the catalyst of his soul jam getting a different purpose, to when he tries to do destruction (he did say it makes his jam boil). (and also, Jesus Christ this golden cheese update did not holding back from alot of dark stuff. golden cheese is the most traumatized cookie then everyone on earthbread )

@mintyflores7378

My hottest take: I don't like the beast cookies. I think if they wanted another main villain they could have just given us more storylines with the Mille Feuille and the white masks either becoming more influential or increasingly starting to use force to enforce their beliefs.

@SarahKai-t2m

Very late and technically not a hot take but: we need to spend more time with the cookies of darkness licorice cookie is literally one of the reason we went on this adventure in the first place and yet we barely know anything about him and his past, and despite red velvet being apart of the team they barely feel like it because they barely interact with the others, it just feels like they’re so underutilized

@thephoenixrose01250

I think that when the ancients Al face off the beasts in a big final battle the soul jam will be destroyed for good

@ver6169

I quit Cookie Run because the lore is messy and all iver the place. I feel like the only character we've seen so far in Development is Dark Choco with the Dark Cacao kingdom. The Holly berry kingdoms story was shit and barely focused on Holly or Pitaya. The story was entertained and I was hooked from ep 1 to the end of the Vanilla Kingdom the rest bored me thats why I quit. Frost Queen really needs more recognition too.

Hear me out: All the ancients need therapy. And so do the beasts tbh

@Ryecookieisthemoment

More LCS content needs to be made! It’s one of the more popular temporary aspects of CRK, and I get that only one season was made, but I’d love to see the aftermath of the whole thing! Like the friendships made. Do Affogato and Cream Unicorn stay friends? And they’re should’ve been an event that showed the aftermath of the show to every character

@Pongsokrnnnnnn54

There my hot take 1. People who wrote the lore seem to probably forgotten adout chili and custard iii like seriously we need more content with these 2 2. We need a more lore and backstory adout each character that involves in the lore (Exp: squid ink , Clotted cream , wildberry etc etc) 3. I know this has nothing to do with this hot take post but We need a update adout a lore and backstory of custard iii Maybe a lore where they explain the culture of the custard and many more And to be honest we still doesn't know how the hell the blonde child Get in the forest in the first place like devsis please explain!! Feel free to leave your opinion adout this sofie

I am still waiting for more red velvet screen time and him to be relevant again (in the story, not the events)
