Amy “Catfox” Campion empowers people through hip-hop dance as a practice of liberation. Her work tells stories through an interplay of dance, theater, film, poetry, graffiti art, and music. Campion’s experience spans two decades and includes multiple dance styles, most prominently, Breaking, Hip-Hop, and Capoeira. Since 2021, Campion is the director of Memphis Jookin’ the Show featuring Lil’ Buck. The New York Times called it “…sincere entertainment, packed with talent and heart.” From 2007 to 2020, Campion founded and directed Antics, a multimedia hip-hop dance theater company that performed extensively throughout LA and toured nationally and internationally. Campion graduated from UCLA’s Department of World Arts and Cultures with an MFA in Choreography in 2006. She is a faculty member at California State University Long Beach Dance Department and holds the rank of Contra-Mestre with Capoeira Batuque.
