Vieux Farka Touré
Vieux Farka Touré is a Malian guitarist and songwriter. Acclaimed widely as the ‘Hendrix of the Sahara’, he is also the son of the late great guitarist and ‘Desert Blues’ pioneer Ali Farka Touré. Vieux has released 5 critically acclaimed solo albums to date, extending the boundaries of traditional West African music into new and uncharted territory. He has also released audacious collaborations with the likes of Dave Matthews and jazz guitarist John Scofield, and albums with American singer-songwriter Julia Easterlin and Israeli artist Idan Raichel. With his 6th album ‘Les Racines’, out June 10th, Vieux documents a deep reconnection with his roots, the ‘Desert Blues’ that his father made famous.
