Chara Christian Dance Company was founded in 2002 by Texas A&M student Shanna Hartman Kirkpatrick. The name Chara comes from the Greek word khar-ah,' meaning 'joy.'
The mission of Chara is to glorify the Lord by using the gift of dance to worship and minister. We choreograph, rehearse, and perform a variety of genres of dance, all of which are Christ-centered and Scripturally-based (Col. 3:17). We strive to be a witness for Christ and encourage fellow believers (1 Jo. 1:2-3), and we seek to grow together in unity as sisters in Christ (Rom. 15:5). Our prayer is that God would use this ministry to change lives and draw people unto Himself (Eph. 3:20-21).
Throughout the years, Chara has been blessed to perform at campus and community events, such as Relay for Life, BYX Island Party, Chi Omega Songfest, Aggie Moms' meetings, and women's retreats. We also dance at local church services and are grateful to offer our gifts in a setting of corporate worship.
