Nourished by the rainforests of Canada’s Pacific Northwest, Mivule is stretching out become an international sound. The band takes its name from a tree which serves as a meeting place for Ugandan villagers, and is a crossroad of African music, and reggae rhythm.
The band’s style is a stylistic melting pot. A heavy rhythm section lays a foundation, upon which dub echoes blossom, as heartfelt vocals deliver uplifting melodies and messages. Lyrical themes of love, unity, and justice are expressed in a mix of English, Luganda, and Swahili.
The four piece seeks sounds that are larger than life, using overdubbed layers and large ensemble arrangements in the studio versions of their songs. With an ever-expanding vocabulary of sounds, Mivule will continue to evolve and spread the love of music.
