Grazer is a fleeting glimpse into the wistful world of Melbourne duo, Mollie and Matt. Their dreamy soundscapes oscillate between the past and present – the melancholic atmosphere of 80s postpunk and the shoegaze revival of recent decades. Echoing vocal refrains recall the intimate conversations of lovers, dislocated from the present- torn between the aching weight of nostalgia and an urgent bursting forth into the future.
The band formed amidst the lockdown uncertainty of early 2020, bunkering down in a Carlton basement to record their self-titled EP (2020) and early singles, produced by fellow Australian Rob Wolfe. In 2022, Grazer released their debut LP, “Melancholics Anonymous”, a genre-bending liberation of songs and memories collected over many years and hinting at the wistful threads that shape their return in 2024. I Always Follow (2024), produced by Gab Strum, is the inevitable culmination of Grazer’s fascination with the tension between nostalgia and modernity.
