Phantoms of the Opera
This channel is dedicated to educating audiences and singers on the Italian singing school of Bel Canto, and dispelling myths around it.
I began my studies in this oral tradition over twenty years ago, and for the last sixteen years I have been reconstructing how Bel Canto was practiced and taught in its heyday, working chronologically backwards from my teacher’s era by studying the early audio records alongside written sources from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
I am devoted to restoring the tradition before it is lost to history.
I teach according to the traditional methods. I am also eager to train teachers to pass it on to the next generations. Please see my website for more information.
I formerly performed under the stage name Ziazan. I am not currently pursuing a performing career, due to spinal injuries caused by hEDS (hypermobile-type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome). However, if you want to discuss any performing or recording project possibilities, please get in touch.
