I'm a programmer with a love for 80s and 90s music gear.
I enjoy ROM hacking, reverse-engineering sound formats and making music. I'm also maintaining the VGM format.

I have a GitHub account, which is where I post tools e.g. for converting exotic sound formats to standard MIDI files: github.com/ValleyBell

On this channel I mainly post recordings of video game music.
I usually don't record ingame. Instead I reverse-engineer the sound formats, convert them to MID and play those back.
Unless noted otherwise, all recordings are done using genuine hardware.

I currently have these sound modules (in order of acquisition):

- Roland SC-88VL
- Roland SC-8820
- Yamaha MU128 (+ PLG-100DX, 100SG and 100VH)
- Roland U-110 (+ SN-U110 cards)
- Roland SC-88Pro
- Korg NS5R
- Roland CM-64
- Roland SC-55mkII (borrowed)

If you want to talk to me, you can usually find me in the vgmrips IRC channel: irc://irc.digibase.ca/vgmrips
