Karl Kave & Durian
“Aus dem Patriarchat macht Gurkensalat!” (Turn the patriachy into cucumber salad!) Karl Kave & Durian are fond of polemic slogans, eventhough by closer listening one could notice their appetite for contractions and slippery terrains. While their first two records “Ungestüme Reiter” (Choléra Cosmique, 2020) and “Untergang und Finsternis” (Detriti, 2021) follow a stream of EBM, post-punk and synthpop, the duo is now with “Auf der Suche nach der verlorenen Night” (Young and Cold, May 2023) mov-ing towards dance and Chicago house. Somewhere between Rave and poetry KKD seems to hit a nerve with both younger and older audiences: A round dance of dark romanticism, humor, folly and Hochkultur.
