This hike is one of my personal favorites. The Tateyama ~ Tsurugi Traverse.

I love this hike because it was challenging, I was with great people, and the scenery was out of this world. It was really unforgettable. One member of this group finished off the 100 famous mountain list during this trip. It was pretty awesome!
If you have questions about this trip, feel free to reach out. I'd love to share my experience.
Do you think you'll give this a try?

Mount Goryu ~ Mount Kashimayari Traverse
https://youtu.be/5ja1vvXp71o
We were blessed with clear days during our 3-day trip.
Views from this hike are amazing. One of the highlights is the sea of clouds at the break of dawn.
The traverse between Goryu & Kashimayari is not easy. Hikers must go through hachimine kiretto - a V-shaped ridge gap between the two mountains.
It was quite a challenge.
Feel free to reach out if you have some questions.
I'd definitely share my experience with you if you're interested.

Mount Yari is a popular hike this autumn.
It takes 9 hours to reach the Yarigatakesanso from Kamikochi. But you can definitely try hiking it from Shin-Hotaka station.
There’s a lot of challenging routes you can take to enjoy Mount Yari.
1.) Omote Ginza
2.) Yari-Hotaka-Circuit
3.) Ura Ginza
These are some of the best routes to take to get the best of Mount Yari.

Don't miss hiking the 2nd tallest peak in Japan when you visit. It is also a great alternative to climbing Mount Fuji.

Hi guys, I've decided to change the name of my hiking channel to @JohnHikerDolar from hikenshoot. I believe this is much easier to pronounce and remember. I've come to terms that name is very important when building something so this is it.
Of course, I'm going to continue posting guides and vlogs using this channel.
Stay safe and see you in the mountains.

An underrated mountain in the southern alps of Japan, Mount Shiomi. But I tell you it is a much better hike than Mount Fuji of course. The thing about mountains in the southern alps is they're hard to access so expect less hikers in the area. Hiking in the southern alps of Japan will for sure take your breath away.
I have made a video about this mountain. Although I hiked it in winter, it is for sure beautiful in all season.
Check out the video here.

Hi 👋 fellow hikers,
Recently, there have been many accidents in the mountains of Japan since 2022. As a content creator( how I wish I get to call my self that ) about hiking in Japan, I think I’m responsible of reminding my fellow hikers to always take extra precautions.
Extra reminders:
1.) Check the Weather 🌤️ ( Never risk going out on a bad weather )
2.) Clothing ( Warm layers and hard shell to keep you dry )
3.) Shelter ( + emergency shelter for day hikers )
4.) Food & Water ( Extra 1 or 2 days worth of food and water )
5.) Lighting ( headlamps )
6.) Phone and Extra battery ( + GPS and Satellite Phone )
7.) Navigation ( maps and compasses )
8.) Itinerary sent to love ones.
9.) Helmet 🪖 and harness for dangerous hikes
10.) Always Assess your skill, level of experience and stamina ( Never overestimate yourself about these things )
There’s more! I might have missed a lot of things here but I believe there are a lot of hiking guides and hiking 101 on Youtube so please check them out.
Friendly advice:
This is what I do when I hike alone, I’d like to share it with you.
Be positive when planning, be negative after packing and preparations, be positive in the mountains and never give up ( always find ways to survive ).
Have fun in the mountains 🏔️

The off-season climb to Mount Fuji is still on. If you would like to know how to climb Mt. Fuji in the off-season, this video will definitely help you do it.
Climbing Mount Fuji in the off-season is a rewarding experience as you get to climb Mount Fuji without hundreds or thousands of people queuing to get to the top. Just be careful because the weather in Mount Fuji is very unpredictable.
