πŸ“˜ You will make quicker progress if you learn using the techniques in this free PDF πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/quick-effective-learning

Have you tried β€œshadowing” before? It is a simple but powerful technique that can transform the way you speak and understand English. Here’s a quick, 3-step plan to get started:

1️⃣ Choose a short piece of audio: Listen to it a few times. Pay close attention to how words are linked, which words are stressed, and the specific sounds the speaker uses. πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ

2️⃣ Shadow the speaker: Say the sentence at the SAME TIME as the speaker, imitating them as closely as possible. Focus on matching their speed, stress, and intonation. If you hear differences between your voice and theirs, keep practising!

3️⃣ Repeat until you sound more natural: The goal is to get into the habit of speaking and linking words together like a native speaker. This will help you sound more fluent, natural, and clearβ€”and also make it easier to understand native speakers!

I use this technique with my students in my membership, and they love it! πŸ’™

Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

πŸ“˜ Get your free phonetics cheat sheet πŸ‘‰ bit.ly/phonetics-cheat-sheet
Bertie, Heard, Nurse, Word, Bird. These words ALL have exactly the same vowel sound in the middle (even though they are written -er, -ear, ur, or and -ir).

If this makes you want to give up on English pronunciation, try this:

1️⃣ Learn the 20 English vowel sounds and train your mouth to shape them properly. Spend time really understanding each sound! (You’ll need the phonetics cheat sheet for this – bit.ly/phonetics-cheat-sheet) πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ

2️⃣ Make lists of words that share the same vowel sound. For example, the words Bertie, heard, word, and girl.

3️⃣ Practice regularly with your word lists. Record yourself and listen to the sounds you make. Practice and repetition will help your pronunciation become more consistent, clearer and easier to understand.

And guess what? Improving your pronunciation will also boost your listening comprehension, because you’ll recognise words more easily when you hear them!

Have you tried using phonetics to work on your pronunciation? Let me know in the comments!
