EARLY MUSIC: Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Purcell, Cavalli, Buxtehude, Bach, Rameau, Lully, Händel, etc.
WORLD FOLK esp folk traditions that influence Modern Classical (incl. those from North America). Gamelan, for example.
MODERN CLASSICAL: Golijov, Saariaho, Dallapiccola, Berio, Britten, Messaien, Adams, Glass, R.V. Williams, Holst, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Berg, Strauss, Janacek, Poulenc, Tan Dun, etc.
CLASSICAL & ROMANTIC: Mozart (the operatic/choral works mainly), Schubert, Mahler, Berlioz, Offenbach, Verdi, Bellini, Dvorak, Wagner, etc.
DON'T LIKE: Puccini, Massanet & excessive strings. BEL CANTO: Not a fan of pointless vocal ornamentation or anything that undermines simple bareheartedness.
