Frieda is a PhD scientist and an Innovation Manager at UW CoMotion where she commercializes life science technologies and facilitates UW Start-up formations.
She made her professional debut at the age of 17 as the principal flute for the Kobe Philharmonic. Subsequently, she has performed with many orchestras including the SF Symphony and Detroit Symphony. Additionally, she was featured through out the world as soloist and recitalist. She pursued her BM at the SFCM, MM at UM, and DMA at Stony Brook, all with full scholarships. Her flute teachers include Jeffrey Khaner, Carol Wincenc, Amy Porter, and Timothy Day. As a chamber musician, she was a recipient of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Grant and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Grant. Her coaches include the Emerson String Quartet and the NY Woodwind Quintet.
She is an animal lover, a rowing regattas medalist, a US half marathon & triathlon finisher, a karate black belt, a botanical illustrator, and a gardener.
