Welcome to Mikes Metal Fab! This channel focuses on the restoration of antique railroad equipment. I have been in the metal fabrication and welding trade since 2008. I've worked various jobs including getting to work at a class 1 locomotive repair facility for 5 years. I currently work part time at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania where I am able to create videos of the work I do. The long term goal is to preserve and cosmetically restore the 5 steam locomotives destined for the roundhouse, GG1 4800, and other rolling stock. My videos walk through the process of restoring the equipment while providing tips and lessons for those who may want to try similar projects at home. Over time we will cover all major welding processes that include MIG welding, TIG Welding (including cast), Stick welding, and Oxyfuel cutting.
