The majority of the animated Disney shorts originally released in 1928–1956 had their opening and closing titles replaced when they were reissued theatrically and non-theatrically.
Well into the 1970s, it was common practice to simply cut the original titles from the original negatives and splice in the new ones. The cut-off titles were then discarded as they were not considered to be of any value. Today, many original versions exist only on old film prints – and the archives at the Walt Disney Company itself hold very few such prints.
This means it’s up to collectors and researchers to track them down and present them to the public. My channel is all about that. For the most part, it’s rare original and alternate titles scanned from 16mm and 8mm prints, occasionally interspersed with 35mm scans, and transfers from VHS and DVD. Hope you enjoy it! – Erik Palm
