LEATHERS is the darkwave dream of visual artist & musician, Shannon Hemmett of Vancouver-based outfit, ACTORS. After teasing the world with a few leaked singles, Hemmett signed a worldwide deal with Toronto-based Artoffact Records. Hemmett returns with a new single and video, Reckless, and collects her previous output on the Reckless EP, out June 11th, 2021. In 2016, LEATHERS bore the whirring rush of "Missing Scene," channelling the essence of early 4AD Cocteau Twins punctuated with addictive hooks. 2017's "Day for Night" coaxed a softer, glittering hue. On “Phantom Heart,” steeped in cinematic synth, her velvet crushed vocals break to the forefront--sleeplessly searching for the truth between fantasy & reality. Then there’s the progressive earworm Reckless, the new single that promises to catapult LEATHERS onto the forefront of smart, catchy, & serious synth music. LEATHERS is currently working on a debut full-length for Artoffact Records & will tour in support of the album in 2022.
