It's finally happening, we are going to write a full published cookbook!

We're currently putting together a book proposal for publishers, and we want it to be the must-have guide for Middle Eastern cooking. We're aiming for about 100-120 traditional and modern Middle Eastern recipes, that are flavour packed, accessible, and easy to incorporate into every day life. If there's something you'd love this book to contain, or you have a suggestion about how to make the cookbook user friendly, then give us your advice below!

Are you in London next weekend, and want to eat some incredible food while supporting a good cause?

On Sunday the 9th of June, Salma and I are going to be joining amazing Middle Eastern chefs like Sami Tamimi, Noor Murad, Philip Khoury, and many others to host Souk El Salam a charity food market. We're going to be cooking Egyptian Koshary, so if you've ever wanted to try it, now's your chance! You'll also get to experience delicious food from across the region and pick up top tier produce from brands like Zaytoun.

Tickets are limited and food is first come first serve so get yours before they sell out (last time there were over 1000 attendees). Hope to see you there!

Hello hello, I hope you're all doing well, except those of you who like chocolate hummus 🤮. Salma and I have some news!

We've had so many of you ask us which recipes are best for hosting and sharing, and so many people asking us to write a book.... so with Ramadan and spring right around the corner we thought it was the perfect time to write a guide on making and hosting the most incredible Middle Eastern dinners. This e-book is a curated collection of our childhood favourites, Ramadan classics, and menus that take the guess work out of planning. All the recipes have written instructions and proper photography, but the best part is we're including some unreleased recipes such as the pictured Egyptian veal panée (which is on both mine and Salma's top 5 childhood dishes).

We'll be releasing it in the next few days, sign up here so you don't miss the launch middle-eats.ck.page/9ebc36bd39

Hey Everyone,

Salma and I want to wish you a merry Christmas, and hope that you all enjoy a beautiful feast with your families. We're very grateful to everyone who has been with us this past year, watching, cooking, and sharing their creations with us. It's been a blessing to be able to teach you all a bit of Middle Eastern culture, and I'm excited to hear what dishes you have cooked.

As you sit and feast, I ask that you take a moment to think of the people of Gaza. In Palestine - the birth place of Jesus, Christmas has been cancelled. No decorations, no trees, no celebrations. Reflect on these excerpts from the Reverend Dr. Munther Isaac of the Lutheran Church of Bethlehem's Christmas sermon.

"We are angry…
We are broken…
This should have been a time of joy; instead, we are mourning. We are fearful.
20,000 killed. Thousands under the rubble still. Close to 9,000 children killed in the most brutal ways. Day after day after day. 1.9 million displaced! Hundreds of thousands of homes were destroyed. Gaza as we know it no longer exists. This is an annihilation. A genocide."

"This war has confirmed to us that the world does not see us as equal. Maybe it is the color of our skin. Maybe it is because we are on the wrong side of the political equation. Even our kinship in Christ did not shield us. As they said, if it takes killing 100 Palestinians to get a single “Hamas militant” then so be it! We are not humans in their eyes. (But in God’s eyes… no one can tell us we are not!) "

"If you are not appalled by what is happening; if you are not shaken to your core – there is something wrong with your humanity."

"I feel sorry for you. We will be ok. Despite the immense blow we have endured, we will recover"

Thank you for being with us and being part of this community. We wish you and your families a blessed year ahead and many joyous meals to come.

Lots of love,
Obi and Salma
