MABUTA is the Johannesburg-based 6-piece band pushing the sound of South African jazz into the future. Their debut album 'Welcome To This World' combines elements of African musics, electronic influences, and South African jazz.
The band members are: Shane Cooper (basses, , guitars, composition), Bokani Dyer (piano, Rhodes, synths), Sisonke Xonti (tenor saxophone), Robin Fassie (trumpet), Reza Khota (guitars), and Jonno Sweetman (drums)..
You can get the album now on all digital platforms, or on double-LP from Rush Hour, released on Afrosynth Records.
Their 2nd album Finish The Sun came out in 2022 on Dutch label Dox Records, with an LP release on Kujua Records.
