PteroDynamics (PteroDynamics.com) is a US-headquartered, venture-backed aircraft design and manufacturing company that was formed in 2017 to commercialize a radically different vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft design the company developed and patented called Transwing, which does not need a runway or other infrastructure to takeoff and land. Transwing aircraft fold their wings uniquely during flight to transition between configurations optimized for taking off and landing and for horizontal flight.

The Transwing design has key advantages, including a smaller operating ground footprint and greater wind resistance, and can be optimized for faster or slower nominal cruise speeds, greater payload weight fractions, and/or longer range and endurance.
