Bill Matthews - TV Comedy & Drama Curator / Writer
In addition to co-devising the panel shows They Think It's All Over and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, I spent much of the early part of my career writing for radio, starting (like most other comedy writers at the time) on the Radio Four topical sketch show Week Ending. This channel features some of my radio writing work from the late 1980s and 1990s. I have added relevant visual images to complement the audio, so please watch as well as listen.
I was always as much a fan of comedy as a writer and, as an early adopter of the VHS in the early 1980s, I used this new fangled state of the art technology to record what were then regarded as obscure comedy shows and comedians from the brand new 'alternative' scene. I have delved into my collection and, having just learned editing skills, will be adding many rare gems (and a few rare failed experiments) over the coming months.
