The Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus

The Yiddish Philharmonic Chorus is part of a modern Yiddish renaissance, with more than forty members from students to retirees. Founded in 1923 (101 years young!) and committed to strengthening Yiddish as a living language, we have commissioned and premiered new Yiddish choral works by half a dozen composers, and perform folksongs, popular tunes, labor anthems, oratorios and operettas, all in Yiddish.

The YPC shares the rich legacy of Yiddish song by performing for old and young of all faiths at community centers, schools and places of worship throughout the tristate area, as well as a regular slot at the North American Jewish Choral Festival. Past performances include Carnegie Hall, Ground Zero, Shea Stadium, West Point, and Symphony Space.

Our next concert at Merkin Hall is coming up on September 15th, 2024, and will be an encore performance of our program 'From Varshe and Vilne to Vashington Heights' - an exploration of Jewish immigration. Get tickets at the link below!
