Praised by The Washington Post for her “handsome tone allied with perceptive musicianship and spirited, emotionally immediate way of setting melodies aloft”, cellist Stephanie Wu made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra as a winner of their Young Soloists’ Competition. She was one of ten cellists selected globally to perform in the YouTube Symphony 2011. She has appeared at venues across the globe, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Sydney Opera House, and Suntory Hall. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard with a B.A. in social studies and music, Stephanie earned a Master’s in cello performance from the Royal Northern College of Music. Currently, Stephanie is the Assistant Principal Cellist for the Berkeley Symphony and teaches cello in the Bay Area. She has been hailed by the San Francisco Classical Voice for her "plush, plangently singing tone and polished musicianship."
