So, what is the airquote woodworker all about?

I'm actually a software engineer at some big company in Mountain View, California, and I have two kids and no free time, so I have a hard time saying that I actually have woodworking as a hobby when I can't even devote more than fifteen minutes a day in a garage where I spend most of that time rolling equipment out and putting it away since we still like to park a car in the garage, and it's only a "1.5" car garage.

What's more fun, I try to do techniques I see on youtube and elsewhere that are far beyond my skills... for example, in May 2013 I tried a hand cut box joint and had to cut the whole joint off and glue new stock onto the project I was working on... And what's worse, I didn't think first that it might be a little silly to cut a box joint along the grain so that the fingers break off easily.
