When History Had Other Plans
You want to make the world a better place? So did Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and tens of millions of idealists who supported them. They made the world a worse place.
It turns out that history does not care about somebody’s plans and good intentions. History always has other plans. That is something to remember when a campaigner tells you how they will make the world fairer. They always make it fairer, it is just that they never succeed. A Russian Prime Minister realized that after his term in office by saying: “We wanted the best, but it turned out like always.”
This channel is dedicated to authors who are not blinded by their bright ideas and instead look at what actually happens on the ground.
There’s one exception: the 4 videos in the playlist of a 1990 public meeting in Bulgaria where the future president Zhelev spoke. These videos were uploaded because they are a primary history source and it would be a pity if they are lost to future generations.
