2023 is the year that Wide Waters takes their cinematic ambient landscape, (evoking references to bands like Sigur Row and Mogwai), and blends in pop style vocals for the first time. What was initially an evolution stemming from Justin and Sam making music in Wess Meets West through a very Post Rock lense, now enters something new.
The band is Justin Krass – Piano and Vocals, Sam Stauff – Guitar and Vocals, at its core with Tim a Robbins – Bass, and Jeremy Scuderi – Drums rounding out their lineup.
Their forthcoming LP, Mountain Laurel, draws from their influences including The National, Manchester Orchestra, M83, Bon Iver, Radiohead and Coldplay. Moving away from Post Rock, Wide Waters finds themselves entering a more Indie Rock chapter, but still implementing cinematic flourishes.
