Karaus
From a 9-oba yaylag area of Bolgar Mountains' great range of cool foothills, called Tapan, one of the tribal regions (yöre) or unions (oymak) belonging to Varsaks, originally known as Karsak tribe in the Onogur confederation (On-Oghur “ten tribes”, a Bulgar or Hun-Ogur confederation). Known for founding towns such as Kars and Onoguris around the Caucasus, in a region known as Vanandur (a reflection of Onogundur, Nandor in Hungarian) or Vanand in the chronicles of contemporaries of Onoguric Karsak people. Later in the Taurus, they Oghuzified in time.
