Bjorgvin Halldorsson

Björgvin Halldórsson born on April 16th 1951 started singing with the band Bendix and the moment he first appeared on stage singing Penny Lane, he kickstarted one of the most brilliant careers in Icelandic pop music history. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a star when he performed in the Laugardalshöllin arena for 5000 people who then voted him pop star of the year in 1969. His christmas shows are legendary in Iceland and in Scandinavia. Björgvin has also worked as a producer and musical director for many renowned Icelandic artists to great success. His voice can be heard on more than 900 recordings in Icelandic music history and he has taken part in many song contests both in Iceland and abroad. He competed for Iceland in Eurovision for Iceland in 1995. Björgvin´s 2nd solo album Ég Syng Fyrir Þig released in 1978 remains the best selling pop album in Iceland still to this day.
