Formed out of the ashes of Britpop and Grunge, 50hz emerged from the Birmingham scene in the late 90's. Having relocated to London, the band came to the attention of Oxford based indie label Shifty Disco who released "Armchair Army"/"Welcome to the World" as part of their monthly singles club in 2001, receiving support from Radio 1's Steve Lamacq.
Several 50hz tracks also found their way onto the TV Show "The Long Way Round", giving the band worldwide exposure. The album "Here Goes Everything", recorded by Ian Grimble (Manic Street Preachers, Travis) followed in 2006 and various other recordings were brought together on the "Singles and Demos 2000-2007" compilation album.
50hz never really aligned with a specific genre - instead their twisted mix of crunching guitars and soaring melodies found its way into the hearts and minds of only those who were brave enough to seek it out.
