Decided to make a knife based on some archeological finds I saw on the web. I think it turned out pretty well for an amateur. Would you like a video showing how I made this? I have a friend who wants a hunting knife so I will be making another knife soon.
I've finally gotten enough free time and motivation to get back on the gingery machine shop project. I'm learning a lot about casting aluminum from soda cans.
One... Thats a lot of slag... Like, 2 to 1 ratio by volume. I wonder if I can electrowhine the slag into pure aluminum crystal.
Two, for some reason wood coal seems to naturally make better castings. Maybe its how the fuel interacts with the metal. I just know im having a significantly harder time making the propane furnace crank out a comparatively decent chunk of aluminum loaf.
Well I tried something newish today. Not bad for a first try in about a decade. I have pics from start to finish. If you're interested I'll make a video about it.
A little hint about why I haven't been posting. I bit off more than I can chew comfortably. Over 50,000 links later, I'd say I'm almost done with a small shirt of armor that I'll be eventually spotwelding all the little links, and wearing as a weighted vest to promote muscle growth. Not having enough "time" to get more exercise in, is not an excuse in my book. I found a way.
Learned a new skill the other day. How to inlay wire into wood. You'll be seeing this in later projects. Right now this has been inlayed into a chainmaille wire coiler that I use to make jump rings for the armor. Might be mass producing something similar to sell on a store but I have to work out the legalese behind making a business where Im at.
To see if this is even viable, tell me if you would even buy something like this.
