Hi. I'm Nick Birmingham & welcome to the YouTube home of "The Free Company of Aquitaine". Based in Southampton & Witney near Oxford, we are one of the few groups in England to research, practise & demonstrate the abilities & realities of the English medieval military archer of the period later known as the Hundred Years War (1337 - 1453).
We model ourselves on the many companies of mercenaries that sprang up in France after the Treaty of Bretigny (1360 - 1369) & take our name from the ancient region of Aquitaine in south-western France, an English possession from the time of Henry II up to the end of the war.
