Steve Baker Harmonica
London born Steve Baker has long been regarded as one of the great harmonica artists, with an impressive reputation as a player, teacher, author and consultant to the Hohner company. His funky, rhythmically accented phrasing, combined with a rich command of timbre and tone, communicates an emotional intensity which is rarely heard on the diatonic harmonica. After a lengthy career as a sideman and a long term musical partnership with the late great Chris Jones, with whom he released four highly regarded CDs, Steve began recording and performing his own songs in 2017 and has now released a total of three albums of original music on Timezone Records. His songs incorporate elements of blues, Americana, funk, rock and even reggae to create an intriguing synthesis of his own. Catchy and vibrant, they combine a melodic pop sensibility with thought-provoking, well-crafted lyrics, delivered with the energy and intensity that has always characterized his work
