I was born in Mexico so therefore, by nationality, I am a Mexican. I do not like being called a hispanic or a latino because they imply that my culture has to do with Spanish people; it doesn't, Mexican culture has very little in common with other cultures from the Carribean and from Central and South America. Not even our languages are the same; the national langauge of Mexico isn't Spanish, it's Mexican. Our language and our traditions were, and are still, influenced by the various Native American tribes living in Mexico and depending what part of Mexico you come from determines what tribe influences you. I happen to come from the Valley of Mexico; as such, the people that influence my language and culture are the Mexica. The sad part is that most Mexicans buy into hispanicism and they follow a culture that is not theirs. I hope one day they can remember where they really come from; most Mexicans are natives and descendants of natives, not salsa-dancing hispanics like you see in the media.

Just for the record, my mother is of Mexica and Apache descent and my father is of Irish and Norse descent. So all of you ignorant people that say that since I am from Mexico I must be Hispanic/Latino because I am of "Spanish" descent, I clearly am not.
