Pants Velour creates its own brand of New York City hip-hop, pop, rock and soul music to form a sound that has been likened to the Beastie Boys, The Roots and the Black Eyed Peas. They have been dubbed "New York hip-hop/rock fusioneers" by TimeOut New York, and their genre-bending music has been described as "party-ready hip-hop" by the Washington City Paper, a "unique brand of hip-hop, R&B and pop" by USA Today, and a combination of "today's pop-soul and yesterday's hip-hop" by the Washington Post. They were named to New Music Seminar's 2013 "Top 100 Artists on the Verge" list.
Pants Velour is also the face of the Dial 7 Car and Limousine Service ad campaign, for which they have written three jingles including "We're Picking You Up."
Pants Velour is lead vocalist Niki Darling, emcee Josh Raff, emcee Eli Northrup, keyboardist Jordan Battiste, bassist Max Calkin, guitarist Sam Coe, drummer Richard Curtis, and backup vocalist Cenophia Mitchell.
