RIP Yoshiko Miura (1949-Nov 6 2023), who began writing for idol singers in the late '70s and was an extremely prolific and in-demand lyricist in the Japanese music industry by the '80s. Some of you might not be familiar with her name, but if you're a fan of City Pop you've definitely heard from her - 2 of the most iconic songs in the genre (Miki Matsubara's "Stay With Me" and Junko Ohashi's "Telephone Number") have lyrics written by Miura. RIP to the wonderful singer-songwriter Chu Kosaka, who passed away on April 28. I've received a number of lovely comments in the last few days memorializing him. May his music continue to bring people happiness and may his talent continue to be appreciated for a long time to come 💙

Did you know that Ann Lewis' 1979 album "Pink Pussycat" (from which I've just uploaded some songs) comes with a 'special thanks' note handwritten in English by Ann Lewis herself?
Here's a picture of it I took a while back when I first bought my copy of the album. It reads:
"Special arigatos to Tatsuro Yamashita for producing this GREAT album, Diane Warren for giving me her song 'Just Another Night', Mr. Kuwashima for running around for me in L.A., Mr. Kosugi for his niceness, Mr. Hayakawa for designing and giving us great ideas for this album, Mr. Wada for his patience, all musicians for helping me out on this album, Tear Drops for their time, Blood Shott for being such a lovable band to me, Mr. Sono for making us happy with his smile, Miss Sou for bringing us 'munchies' while recording, Miss Minako for her everything, Shimizu (my manager) for booking my recording schedules, Miss Shoko and Kazuko for always being thoughtful, Shirley and Theresa for their everlasting friendship, Masahiro for his love and affection, my family in Hawaii for their understanding, and of course, THANX to you all that bought or even [the word "just" is crossed out here] looked at this album!!!!!
