Stereo Sounds of the 1930s Onwards

Stereo Sounds of the 1930s as the title suggests may be achieved by processing of a mono source, i.e. a 78rpm record.
Some recordings may work surprisingly well and others may not. Luck of the draw I guess.
The aim is to try to recreate how it might sound if you were in the venue with the band playing in front of you. Though, some interpretation may be used as the 1930s Dance Band layouts would vary depending on the venue or be positionally optimised for studio recording usually with just one microphone.
The method I use is known as DES Stereo or Digitally Extracted Stereo which uses spectral editing software, in my case Spectralayers 5 to separate the instruments. For mixing, I use Audacity as it is quick and easy to drop a load of wav files in and mix them completing the Mono to Stereo process.
I aim not to change the sound of the recording, but to give it the depth of stereo as I have no doubt that if multi channel recording was available at the time - they would have used it.
