Named a 2009 Presidential Scholar in the Arts by the U.S. Department of Education, senior Andrea Jarrett is pursuing her Bachelor of Music Degree at The Juilliard School, where she studies with David Chan. In October 2009 she performed at the National Arts Awards in New York City, where Robert Redford was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Andrea previously studied with Almita and Roland Vamos. Andrea received the Silver Award in from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. In April of 2009, Andrea performed at Carnegie Hall as a member of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. She was a member of Quartet Polaris, Gold Medal Winners of the 2008 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. She has attended Pacific Music Festival (serving as concertmaster under Maestro Fabio Luisi), Music Academy of the West, Astona International Summer Music Academy, Aspen Music Festival, and Heifetz International Music Institute
