Swavy Curly Courtney

“Comparison is the thief of joy”, especially when it comes to your curl journey. 🌱💐

It’s easy to get caught up in the perfect curls you see online, but remember: your day 30 can’t be compared to someone’s day 2,190.

Progress takes time, patience, and a lot of trial and error. Celebrate your own improvements, embrace every step of your unique journey, and give yourself the grace to learn and evolve. Take tons of pictures!

Your curls are a reflection of your story—don’t let someone else’s chapter 6 discourage you from loving where you are today.

This is a good reminder. I'm only on day 90 of CGM and I feel so defeated, but I have a lot to still learn, a lot to try, and a long way to go.

It took a couple of years before my hair actually clumped during my shampoo and I could say, “that’s what they mean about clumping!”

I can't wait for the all curlsmith wash day video how you got those beautifulcurly waves!! I have a few things from prose I love, including the shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, & curl cream made for me... but I also love the curlsmith wave spray and weightless mousse. Sometimes, I'll do a gel before the mousse for extra hold.

In the first photo there is hardly any wave at all as you were obviously going through the transition period. Your hair now looks amazing and so healthy. In order to get those gorgeous, defined curl clumps like yours, we need to have patience while our hair grows back healthy again, however long that may take. To me that would mean regular trims, staying away from heat, using a repair mask or deep conditioning treatment weekly and also being careful with what styling products we chose to use on our hair. Some ingredients in these products (especially very cheap, drugstore ones) could cause further damage. You look gorgeous in the second photo 😍

Love the after. Mine still looks like the before, so still have a ways to go - hopefully not 6 years. I was wondering if you could review some solid shampoo and conditioner bars. I would love to use them for travel, but I'm worried about whether they'll work for curly hair.

I am LOVING the ultra wavy look you have here compared to your usual curly singlets. Just gorgeous!!! What changed?

Gorgeous photo Courtney! That pink is a good colour for you!

Doesn't the difference in length also contribute to the curliness? I mean longer hair pulls the curls down, or that's what I've been told.

You're not wrong. But I also like both of your pictures! You're such a pretty girl =) I'm happy with whatever curls or waves I can have that don't frizz and puff out like crazy. I'm trying to follow your guide. I might just have really bad hair =( like the way some people just have perfect hair. I feel discouraged whether my hair is flat ironed straight or with curls.

Wow, what a difference Courtney! Your hair is really rocking and you look even prettier than normal. I am looking forward to seeing the wash day video. What make and colour of lipstick do you have on please? So pretty. Blessings from the United Kingdom. X

I know your hair wasn’t very healthy in the before picture, but if it were healthier with that amount of wave, it looks pretty on you! Of course you are gorgeous in the second picture!!
