I can only speak for the United States, where I favor: 1) Antitrust breakup of most major social players 2) FCC regulation of social networks as “common carriers” which obligates net neutrality (not picking bandwidth favorites) 3) Enforcement of the FCC’s abandoned “Neutrality Doctrine” to prohibit engagement-based information siloing for end-users.

Punishing corporations financially is sadly the only real way to make them behave in america because money is all they care about and as long as its a seemingly substantial (i mean losing 20mil to elon musk isnt really that bad but he sure acts like it is) despite the fact thats like 1% of his wealth

The fact that so many people seem to think the free market is self regulating even though that is demonstrably false blows my mind

I'm for more government scrutiny personally, but since I doubt that's going to happen before politicians and governments worldwide start behaving fairly, I think it starts with teaching people, in layman's terms, why they should have an interest in holding these platforms accountable. The average person doesn't understand why they should care if Zuckerberg uses their personal information to make a profit, for example.

Social platforms cannot behave fairly because humans are not intrinsically fair.

The same thing that made the Montgomery bus system act fairly when Rosa Parks refused to get out the seat. Boycott!

They are not bound to behave fairly. But if you own one and wish to bind it, then it should be an internal matter done with moderators and such, and should have ZERO to do with laws or legalities.

Freedom comes at its own cost Zonday, freedom. Best way to make social platforms "behave" is to remove all censorship and regulation. Freedom.

There is no suitable solution, nor is there any reason for them to be fair.

Your own idea (if they're designed by the kind of devs who do free and open source stuff and actually mean it.)

Karma system like reddit. With negative and controversial posts being pushed to the bottom. Not only will this apply to posts but it will apply to users as well
