American singer-songwriter Roland Kent LaVoie, better known by his stage name Lobo, shot to stardom in the early 1970s after cracking the Top 5 on the Billboard charts with his single “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo”, which eventually went gold. Throughout his career, Lobo has released 16 studio albums, charted 8 Top 40 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 including 3 in the Top Ten, 13 Top 25 Hits on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts including 9 in the Top Ten and 4 No. 1’s, and toured around the globe, especially in Asia. His unforgettable song “I’d Love You to Want Me” hit No. 1 in almost every country.
Not only is Lobo considered a singer-songwriter, but also a producer, producing many of his own songs, as well as other artist’s tracks, including Jim Stafford’s smash hit “Spiders and Snakes”. Interestingly enough, Lobo never looked for fame, never wanted to be in the spotlight.
